Arno, Edinburgh, 1979

This Dutch guy called Arno, turned up in our student flat in 1979 as he had met one of my flatmates in Amsterdam. In those days I often had my camera ready, and Arno was very photogenic. I don't know if it was that day or the next that another of my flatmates, Alison, saw him sitting at the kitchen table with a copy of Playboy magazine. 'This is offensive to women,' she shouted, before tearing the thing in half. Arno just looked stunned. I was amazed that Alison could tear through such a thick magazine. I think all our jaws hit the floor.
