No stone-throwing allowed

Another slow start, but a beautiful afternoon. I finally began the process of commissioning my glasshouse - the first stage to bolt the frame to the wooden rectangle which is screwed to the sleeper base. Maybe by next winter I'll have somewhere to work on wet days!

This afternoon I had a long chat with a lady who runs 'East Haven Angus' - a group dedicated to improving everything in this small east Scottish village. Very much like 'Keep Oban Beautiful', but longer established and very successful. See  https://www.easthavenangus.com/

Another small box of bulbs arrived this afternoon from Farmer Gracy. OK, why do I want more bulbs? Because it's fun! Today I got one of each of Habenaria radiata, Chasmanthe ducktii, Amorphophallus bulbifer and Selaginella lepidophylla, the Rose of Jericho. All potted up apart from the latter which is sitting in a bowl of water!

Just put an extra on - a hill  fire which we can see from our house. Been burning for quite some time.

Quote of the Day:

Vladimir Nabokov - "There is an old American saying 'He who lives in a glasshouse should not try to kill two birds with one stone."
