Chatting and planting
A beautiful day. When I woke up at 5.30am the gorse fire on the hill opposite - see yesterday's extra - was still raging, but when I next looked out at 7.45 there was no sign of smoke, just a wide area of blackened ground.
I went up to Taynuilt this morning to meet a friend for a blether and to take him some native fern roots to plant - or pass on. After a good walk around his nursery we sat in the sun for a coffee - the saucepan was boiling away on his outdoor stove. Very relaxing, and I came home with a nice clump of primroses to plant.
After lunch I joined three KOB ladies to plant foxgloves along a grass verge opposite the Corran Halls in Oban. Permission had been granted by the council and we're hoping that in time we can plant more wild flowers there to cheer people up coming into town from the top end.
Quote of the Day:
Roland R Kemler - “What a lonely place it would be to have a world without a wildflower!”
