The Lion Sleeps Tonight

We finished off today investigating a public path we’d heard about, that runs through the middle of Chester Zoo. Indeed there is such a path but, not unnaturally, the Zoo have done their utmost to stop us seeing what may lurk behind the fences by putting up screens on both sides of the path. But we could still hear the odd one. And when I heard a very loud roar it coincided with a rare gap in the screening on the fences. I did a fairly massive double take when a lion suddenly appeared, padding across the gap. Working on the basis that he might have been walking around in circles, I waited a few minutes and was rewarded by more roaring and a second appearance. Ready with my camera this time but it was really a bit too far away to get a decent photo.
And it had been a good day as well. Started with a lovely 5K run in the early morning sun. Went to see mother later and quickly blitzed the list of jobs that she had for me. Changed the cooker clock, put a new plug on the iron and dealt with all the paperwork that had built up over the last four months by the simple expedient of taking it all away with me. Some of it is no doubt important, but most will be junk. Unfortunately, if I try and throw it away in her presence, she can’t cope as she is convinced everything is important. But she is quite happy if I take it away to “file” it!
The one job I couldn’t do was fix the broken door lock. But I found the name of a locksmith in a “Check-a-Trade” approved directory that was in amongst all the paperwork. Very nice chap, came round within an hour and had it sorted in under fifteen minutes. Mother very pleased.
The apartment is now clean and tidy again (and bereft of Christmas decorations!) and we had the last of the “old” food from the freezer for tea. Tasted ok so that was an improvement on last night’s tea. At least we can go home tomorrow content in the knowledge that when we return in a couple of weeks, it will be to a tidy, clean apartment with fresh food in the fridge and freezer.
You’ve had long enough to think about today’s title now, so - all together - “wimoweh, wimoweh........”
