The North West Face

First thing, we drove into Warrington so that J could get her second covid vaccination at the Wolves stadium.

Whilst she headed off there, I went for a very short walk. The stadium sits next to a huge Tesco Extra, and next to that is this former church. It used to be St Anne's church, a striking victorian edifice which from the 1960's to the 1990's when it closed was heated by steam from the adjacent Tetley's brewery. For the last 25 years the building has been used as an indoor climbing centre.

The brewery is long gone, and the interior of the church is now occupied by rock climbing walls, which must sit interestingly with the interior victorian architecture. It is grade II* listed, so the internal changes have been made in a manner which is capable of reversal.
