Lords of the Rings
Third time lucky up on Cleeve Hill this morning having run rings round me over a vast expanse of common over the last three days, I finally got to see the ring ouzel.
He was at a distance and there only for a short time I was still pretty chuffed to have actually seen him at last having never seen one before. Very like a blackbird but with a white bib and very shy. They winter in Africa and like other thrushes they eat insects, worms and berries nesting close to the ground often near a moorland stream or track.
