Enjoying the breeze

I don't see much of Sylvie these days -she mostly hangs out in a dark corner near the bed.  But with the sun shining and the windows open, she enjoys spending some time enjoying the sights.  It's an ongoing effort to figure out what will make her happy and comfortable, but I guess we have plenty of time to work that out.

Finally had my virtual follow-up appointment with the neurosurgeon today, to talk about what's going on with my numb leg.  Looking at the MRIs, it was clear that my spine looks much less compressed than before the surgery, a very good thing.  But it's at L4-L5 that the trouble lies.  It's a very tight space that the surgery couldn't do to much with and as time goes on it becomes tighter again.  The only solid solution would be a spinal fusion of those vertebrae, but I am far from ready even to consider such a thing.  So he's referring me to a physical medicine doctor who specializes in legs to see what can be done otherwise.  An epidural injection at the spot is another future possibility to consider.

But first I have to get through the current surgery and see what shape I'm in when that's done.  It's strange how when we are young we never imagine ourselves being less than fit and strong in old age - it comes as a shock when that notion is blown away.
