New Toy
My old Weber BBQ gave up the ghost on the same day that Prince Phillip passed away. I decided not to dwell on it, because the sadness didn’t seem appropriately directed at my BBQ that day.
I waited a suitable time before I ordered a new one; then took the plunge. The previous BBQ was disposed of (see extras of it just before its trip to the tip as well as the utterly corroded gas piping). Mrs SoL was surprised as I normally hold on to the old stuff while I wait for the new to arrive. I know its possible to get spare parts, but the cost and age of the BBQ make it far more expensive now. Better to start fresh. The old one lasted 18 years, so not too bad.
This one has a plancha as well as 4-gas heaters; it also came with a free Weber rotisserie attachment in the Spring purchase offer. As ever in France, getting the free offer required scans of receipts, the invoice showing that I had bought it in the approved window of dates, proof of delivery, registration on the website, registration of the BBQ I had bought, a code that was sent when I registered the BBQ, a re-boot of the internet connection, confirmation by e-mail that I was the person trying to get the item, then an actual purchase of the rotisserie on the website at the ‘free’ price indicated (hoping that it would not think I was trying to buy it outside the offer). Then, at last, I got an e-mail telling me that it would be delivered, free, at some point (they will let me know soon-ish).
I’m looking forward to getting to know it.
