Farewell Les

We drove up to Castle Bromwich today for the father-in-law's funeral. It went well, that is as well as these things can go. There were only 4 of us from the direct family, though there were a good number of friends and neighbours. Quite a few neighbours paid their respects as we left the house as well, which was nice. Mrsfb presented a lovely family tribute and I read one of his many poems, which I have attached as an extra. People said it was a lovely service.

The best bit in a way was that afterwards daughter#1 and her husband joined us for lunch in the garden at the house. We hadn't planned anything so it was Tesco meal deals!  We had to sit on the dining room chairs and use the piano stool as a table, but it worked well. It was so nice to see them again (the last time was in August) and to hear stories about our grandsons. We hope to see them soon.

It still feels a bit unreal that Les is no longer with us as he has been such a huge part of our lives, especially in the last 7 years since his wife died. No doubt it will start to sink in more over the next few days.
