Rosamund’s Tower

A busy morning tackling a number of household tasks whilst Richard took the car in to have some squeaks on the suspension resolved.

We decided to combine Jet’s walk with a booked visit to the castle. Neither of us had been inside since our children were small. We had the place to ourselves and it was lovely to wander around the inside of a building we pass everyday.

This is the view of Rosamund’s Tower on the opposite side to the main gate. It was looking at its very best in the sunshine this afternoon. The castle itself is a Motte and Bailey. Although  built in Norman times to help suppress the North it was used by kings coming to hunt in the Royal Forest next door.
