Pleasant Sunday

We had a good walk in the Arboretum this morning. Many of the magnolias have gone by, what with the sunny warmth of the last couple of weeks, but this yellow-ish species is just beginning to bloom. The blossoms look quite yellow, especially from a distance, and then are a softer yellowish white as the open. They have a very faint fragrance that smells vaguely like laundry hung out to dry.

I spent several hours in the garden this afternoon and got a good weeding done. Everything seems to have grown inches since yesterday's rain!
