Vanishing Point....
Today was another trip to the seaside with my brother (our third in the last two weeks) - this time to Whitstable. I even remembered the way this time (unlike last time when we were heading there but ended up in Margate) - turn left at that roundabout not straight on!
The roads were very quiet - it was Monday and the schools are back open after the Easter holidays. When we arrived the car parks were mostly empty and the town itself was extremely quiet. It was actually fairly cold, with a stiff breeze and a lot a grey scudding clouds. It didn't look too promising.
However, as soon as we turned away from the town on to the shingle beach we seemed to be more sheltered from the wind and the sun started to make an appearance. We headed away from the town alongside rows of multi coloured beach huts (as seen in my main image - the tiny figure in the distance is my brother) and hoped that by the time we did the reverse journey The Old Neptune pub right on the shoreline would be open.
It was, so we ordered a couple of pints and some chips just as the sun really started to shine, gazing across The Swale towards the Thames Estuary. We even had a visit from a gorgeous little puppy who had temporarily run off from it's owner and across the shingle beach to our table.
The first extra is of some abandoned boats on the shingle beach. The second extra is a warning sign outside a caravan park - I love the fact that the lettering looks as though it will blow away on the next gust of wind!
