Low tide

On my pre-breakfast run this morning I saw a train passing through Joppa at 90 mph on its way to London King’s Cross. Today was the first day when non-essential travel restrictions were lifted. We can now travel to England again but still cannot stay overnight with any of our children!

On the beach the tide was very low. The swimmers had to wade even further out such is the shallow nature of Musselburgh Bay (including Portobello Beach!) When the tide turns it does return surprisingly rapidly.

We finally had rain here today after weeks of drought. It was, however, no deterrent to those hardy souls happy to brave the rain and stiff breeze to sup their post lockdown pints at street and promenade tables.

In other news the rebranding of an Edinburgh financial services firm (named after The Granite City) has dropped all its vowels bar the first one! ABRDN!! Maybe I should now be known on here as Jppstrnd?!!
