Fauchons House
We must have passed Fauchons House a thousand times in the twenty years we’ve lived in Bearsted. I’ve looked at it for a blip many times not finding an angle I liked until today when we were stood talking to a neighbour and I glanced up to see this view. It’s a timeless view as there’s nothing to suggest the 21st century and would look just as effective in mono.
It’s a listed building of course, a timber framed farm house with plastered walls and a plain tile roof, built in the 15C or earlier with later additions in late 15C, 16C and 18C
Much warmer today, that biting easterly was temporarily replaced by a gentler southerly. Not for long as it is forecast to get colder possibly with, gasp, a shower on Thursday.
The afternoon was taken up with admin tasks and stuff in the garden. Have you ever tried to open an account using Power of Attorney? Every organisation does it differently and all require the original to be sent off or a certified copy.
Gardening was exciting for Susan at least as she excavated the pond, dragging out huge mats of roots that were choking everything and leading to lots of blanket weed. She spotted over 30 newts who were last seen making off carrying their bags looking for a quieter pond.
I was engaged in quieter pursuits sowing peas, planting out lettuces, sowing more swedes and finally putting back the rocks around the pond. I failed to get the water barrel pump to work. We only bought it last July. It should last longer than that.
