Dashing Through the Snow!

We realize that our days of snowmobiling this year are numbered....this was our fifth trip out. We discovered that only about an hour and a half from our house, there is a lovely little trail system that is just, well, simply wonderful!

We live in a rural area. When we built our house, the road we live on was dirt. The land "up the hill" from us was mostly uninhabited and one could explore and see the beautiful woods. Now, twenty years later, most of the land has been sold to folks from the city who have quickly posted "No Trespassing" signs everywhere!

And so, I am in awe of the farmers and other folks who generously allow the snowmobile clubs to maintain beautiful trails throughout their fields and woodlands for the pleasure of many avid riders!

We rode through huge fields, viewing herds of deer, flocks of geese, and being accompanied by glorious blue....no, sapphire skies! One of the amazing things about these trails is passing through what I call "the land of the giants", a seemingly enormous windfarm! Although they can be a certain danger when ice and snow build up on the blades, there was no threat of that as we rode...the day was warm and sunny and just a picture-perfect spring day.

We took trails we have not yet taken before and rode through maple sugaring operations and even a Christmas tree farm. We had left very late in the day and so our ride was only about fifty-five miles, total, but with very warm weather the next day or two, we know the trails will soon be but a memory.

Ah, what a terrific day!
