Blizzard

Chicago apparently has had a pretty mild winter, not much snow. Since I've been back, though, every week has featured a fair amount of snow. And it figures that the week my friend comes to visit we would get the biggest snowstorm of the season. But the plans called for a day in the city, so a day in the city we did. Getting in was pretty easy, as the trains were running fine, but after walking around for a few minutes the plans quickly changed from trying to check out parks and the lakefront to looking for something indoors to do.

Ended up checking out a couple historical buildings and famous sites around downtown, having tea at the Russian Tea House (with a delicious shot of horseradish vodka to keep warm), visiting the Art Institute, and ending the day with a good dinner at the Berghoff (Chicago's oldest restaurant, 1898). A little improvised, but a great day.

Picking this shot because my mom said it is Chicago to her. The snow, the L train tracks above, just the overall feeling, once you see it, it's definitely Chicago. And I have to agree with her.
