Giving Of Sparks, Aylesford
Sometimes my brain works in strange, surreal ways. For some reason this painted tree stump and these small leaves reminded me of a Catherine wheel. This triggered me remembering some lyrics, "We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks", which is, of course, from the wonderfully bonkers Total Eclipse Of The Heart sung by the brilliant Bonnie Tyler. Apparently her throaty delivery was caused by having nodules removed from her larynx during an operation in 1976!
The song was written by the late, great Jim Steinman who also wrote the songs on Meat Loaf's album Bat Out Of Hell. It was known for it's mixture of multi-part song structures, beyond operatic production and lyrics in which teen angst were inflated to a berserk dimension - all of which made it the glorious confection it became.
