Gorgeous George
Walking round the park early doors having left Hubs sleeping like a baby, was just magic. A glorious start to the day with the sun breaking over the horizon like a huge vibrant orange was fantastic to see even without a lens to hand. A frost on the grass hit by this stupendous light just made me down my cuppa and get out there and where better to go than the local park.
I was expecting peace and tranquility which it was to a degree though there were many joggers, dog walkers, twosomes chatting, three or four photographers ........Everyone was so very friendly and everyone seemed to know not just everyone else but also the names of their dogs etc etc. I am a new kid on the block here but it's fast getting around with a few nods in my direction - 'Oh yes she's from Tewkesbury!' Is that good or bad? The robin lady was there dishing out food and we chatted about George.
2017 George was hit by a crossbow bolt through his left eye and had an exit wound just under his jaw. Aren't people horrid! He was taken to the local rescue station made BBC news and after love and care was put back on the lake.
2018 Poor George got caught up in fishing line with the hook in his neck under the skin. Again he went back to the Vale Wildlife Rescue and luckily the expert staff managed to get him back on the lake to his cygnets within hours.
You can see with how much affection he's held just by watching him and his adoring fans though he doesn't like shoes and he doesn't like tripod legs - that I can vouch for.
I missed his outing with his kids at the crack of dawn on the lake but wasn't going to hang around till 9 o'clock, an estimate from the expert swan/George watcher on hand.. Tomorrow is another day.
