Midgley Well Walk!

By chance I'd seen a poster of the Well Dressing taking place in Midgley on Sunday but thought it worth a wander around the walking route today. It was a great decision! The route takes you through the beautiful hillside village of Midgley and up onto the hills above where the views really are astounding. The footpaths across the hills are true hidden gems.

The route passes by roughly 12 wells which have been decorated with fresh flowers and bunting, but also cheerful Bill and Ben style flowerpot friends! One of the wells showed how the ways we store milk has changed over the years from glass bottles to milk churns and onto plastic bottles.

Following the walk, it was time for a picnic and then onto Haworth for a look in the little shops. It's always a pleasure to see the small businesses back open. :-)
