On our walk today, Joanna and I spent some time looking at the gravestones around Lochrutton Church (see extra for a view of its spectacular setting). 

Sadly the church has fallen into disrepair now that it is no longer in use. Bits of it really are falling off inside, and the bell is just about hanging on. It's a real shame.

Someone must have peeled back the turf to look at the details on this old stone and we were amazed to see them mirrored in the roots of the grass.
