Lickey Woods in early spring?

I had envisaged that the next blip in my series of this view in Lickey Woods would be a scene full of signs of spring - daffodils, blossom, budding leaves etc. My plans changed as a result of today's lunchtime walk.

It was just starting to rain as I was preparing to set off, but not enough to deter me. By the time I reached the woods it was getting heavier and I was glad I had togged up in full rain gear. A few minutes later it was absolutely sheeting down, so I decided I would risk pulling the camera out the bag only once.

It is certainly a big contrast to the shot I took only a week ago. This is Lickey Woods at their most inhospitable.
