They five Hanamachi in Kyoto are: Kamishichiken, Gion Koubu, Gion Higashi, Pontocho, Miyagawacho.
Each Hanamachi has their own dancing style and traditions being Kamishichiken the very first Hanamachi established in Kyoto.
For example Gion Koubu Odori is based in Noh performance, where Miyagawacho is based in Kabuki dance.
In general people belive that Kamishichiken is the snobbish and very difficult to access Hanamachi, where Miyagawacho is consider the friendliest one.
Nowadays the top ranked Hanamachi is Gion Koubu, famous for turist because its old intact streets and architecture.
