It’s polling day. We’re voting for the next Mayor of London and the 25 Assembly members in a poll that was postponed from this time last year because of the COVID outbreak. According to the website, the Mayor is here to make  “London a better place for everyone who visits, lives or works in the city” and the Assembly members hold him to account. I often wonder why people go into politics: with a remit like that I don’t know how any mayor can quantifiably succeed.  Still, I am glad somebody does give it a go.
