Mothering Sunday

When we were small we used to be sent home from Sunday School with a bunch of violets for our mothers on Mothering Sunday. Maybe we would make a card, and we would take her a morning cup of tea. Now restaurants are taking bookings weeks in advance and florists are hiking their prices by 200%.
However, I am looking forward to being taken out to lunch by my son and his family today!
I have had my usual Sunday morning chat with my sister and we talked about our mother who died when we were both hardly adult, a long time ago. She was a very popular person who lived life to the full although it wasn't easy at times.
It is good to think about our mothers and our children on this special day.
