A visiting rook
It poured with rain all morning but isdry nowso the birds have returned to the garden.
Rooks nest in the trees at the castle and as I live close by sometimes get them in the garden. One arrived today that had a big pouch under it's beak. I'd never seen this before so looked it up on the internet. Apparently they collect grubs etc. in it and take them back to their youngsters which sounds very sensible. It's always good to learn something new!
Thank you very much to Mother Shipton who has named it as a Gular Pouch.
