Everyday I Write The Book

Duvet day

We went to Guildford, TSM expressing her concern that everywhere she goes she sees people carrying brand new duvets. Sure enough as we passed Nando’s a woman in a queue had an enormous new duvet rolled up in a bag, prompting us to speculate that we had missed the memo about duvets offering protection against Covid. Or alien invasion. Or sleep deprivation even.

Not that we had to worry about the last. We had gone to bed promising ourselves a lie-in and we didn’t tip into the shower until after 1pm, so duvets were definitely the order of the day. I got up at 6.15am and made tea then came back to bed to finish the Isaiah Berlin bio. We even had vegan bacon sarnies with brown sauce later. Sheer indulgence, but it was peeing down outside and we deserved the treat of a lazy morning.

Keeping up my 10k + a day steps so feeling rather pleased with myself after the walk from the park’n’ride and back. Passed these Japanese gardens en route. Incongruously pretty.

Wine and a movie tonight. Small pleasures in a small but happy day.
