Little Lane

This is one of the two long, tall flint walls running either side of the narrow Little Lane in Blakeney. It’s my short cut from the High St to the car park at the village hall, but it’s also reportedly where Old Shuck has been seen, the huge black ghost dog of North Norfolk. Always worth looking up to see what’s growing on top of the walls. Norfolk has lots of flint walls including those in buildings. Flint is found naturally in the chalk in the area, it’s made of silica but impurities give it different colours:  brown around Fakenham; black around Thetford and Swaffham; chalk covered grey flints around North Walsham; rounded beach flints at Wells, Cromer and Sheringham; and (as I know well from my garden) light grey around Holt. (Flint info from Visit Norfolk).

Day 419 /  Day 28 of Step 2 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only
Michael Gove has said that the next stage of lockdown easing will include being able to hug people outside of your household.  However a Professor also said hugs should be selective, short, and avoid face-to-face contact.
