Field of Remembrance, Windlesham

This is the Woodland Walk at the Field of Remembrance in Windlesham. I'm ashamed to say it was my first visit despite having lived in nearby Chobham for nearly 30 years. In my defence I didn't know it existed until I read an article about it online the other day. The original 10 acre site was sold to Trustees in 1950 for £2750 by Admiral Cochrane to serve as a place of commemoration for those lost in the First and Second World Wars. Another 8.5 acres were acquired at a later date. There are playing fields, open space, a children's playground and woodland walks plus a very nice cafe. We shall definitely visit again!
