Bit Of A Jungle
Somewhere under here is the Memorial to Private J.H Williams of the Machine Gun Corps who died on the 15 November 1918, here being the Methodist Chapel at Ponsanooth.
We have a rough location, right hand side towards the rear wall in the photograph you can make out some headstones but not the one we are looking for.
Next thing to do is contact the chapel and ask for permission to enter and clear the undergrowth before inspecting the memorial and deciding on a way ahead.
Private J.H Williams is one of the WWI casualties about whom little is know but as the fanfare of the centenary celebrations recedes we owe it to them all to preserve their memorials.
Slow day, dog walking and a Sunday roast.
Thanks to ‘Bootneck’ exciting times are planned for tomorrow.
