Tulips
I know they are past their best now, but the tulips have been magnificent this year, over two feet tall and some of the flowers more than four inches long.
The garden is looking good, everything is about to spring into life. The Clematis Montana is almost fully open. We cut it back to almost ground level two seasons ago. It recovers well. The peony buds have lots of colour in them, lots of alpines are out. The geum is a riot of orange in the corner and the azaleas in the front garden are spectacular. Through it all the hellebore are still in flower, the scilla is going strong, the dicentra is great and there are still daffodils aplenty. I'm hoping the hosta are going to last a little longer this year as not only have I put copper mesh around them but I've also just sprayed them with Nematodes to try and wipe out the slugs, we have a major problem with snails as well as slugs which don't respond as well, but it may help a bit. Fingers crossed. The garden has to be kept wet for the next week or so, shouldn't be too hard looking at the forecast.
Not a terribly busy day today the weather hasn't been encouraging. I went to church first then we walked down to Craigleith for a light lunch and some shopping. I was a little disappointed. A plain baked potato which is normally served with coleslaw, no coleslaw left so it came with a handful of rocket, not quite the same and rather unexciting.
I'm going round to Ali's early evening with m-in-l and S-in-l, we'll sit in their very welcome heated shelter and catch up with the news.
It's going to be so good to go next week and have a hug. Be careful and stay safe and well folks we don't want to go back into lockdown again.
