Ruins in the rain
Awake early......just after 6, dozed a while, got up just after 7.30, a trip out to meet our friends, not seen them since hubs funeral.
After breakfast, put my things in the car, camera, waterproof coat, brolly etc. left home just after 9, drove the hour towards Clitheroe, a little village called Whalley, which apparently has a lovely designer clothes shop where D buys a lot of her lovely clothes from, needless to say we spent a,good while browsing the rails......one or two purchases were made ;-)
We had a lovely bacon barm with a coffee, sat in the sunshine on a bench in the park. We chatted about hub a lot, D&I still reeling from the shock, like the rest of us really. So hard to accept it, still :-/
After lunch the clouds rolled in, soon felt chilly and then the rain came, as it has most days is week so far! We had just walked up to the Abbey ruins and started exploring......luckily I had taken a couple of images before the heavens opend, this is one of them! You can see how dark the sky looks!!! I have added another shot in extras as I like the bright green & salmon colours of the acer against rhe dark stone. We ended up sheltering under the stone archway that is the wntrance into the ruins....it did stop eventually, by which time we headed back to our cars. Really heavy showers on the way home, got back around 3.30pm.
Unpacked my purchases......and half a homemade malt loaf that D had given me, looks lovely! Spent an hour or so shredding all hubs hospital related paperwork, don't want to keep on seeing it all in the cupboard, so its gone in the recycling bin which is being emptied in the morning.
Got changed and drove round to daughters for our Wednesday night dinner date, a very nice spicy chicken & green pepper stir fry with rice, followed by games with E. Guess who won Rummikub this week :-D After two games, E went off to do her homework whilst daughter and I watched 2 more episodes of The Handmaids Tale. We ended up talking about hub.....result was both of us in tears :-/
Back home by 9.30, put the bins out, made myself a cuppa and sat down for an hour.
Almost time for bed now, so I will say goodnight, hope youre all safe and well.
