Park Life
A beautiful, clear blue sky start to the day. Alice B. & I walked round Roundhay Park, we noticed groups (2 or 3) of beautifully dressed men . African, Arab and South Asian. We agreed that the Mosque on Spencer Place might be a good place to see more finery. As A drove us down Roundhay Road, we noticed that the majority of shops remained shuttered.
The were lots of people arriving in cars at the Mosque, African women dressed the same as Church-going African Women, some more less flamboyant colours and covered their heads. A young man arrived wearing spanking new clothes, carrying his own prayer mat. There was the aroma of spiced food. I didn't take a photo, the vibe was muted, possibly due to Covid-19 restrictions.
After noon the weather cooled as the cloud cover increased, and we experienced heavy showers. In the evening we ambled down to P Park. Had the evening been dry and sunny, I think many families would have gathered on the grass to show off and celebrate. These two Afghan Women were the most eye-catching people in the park and were happy to pose, I liked their colourful clothing and handsome faces. Also the way they are seated. Eid Mubarak!
I had a profitable Day 2 at York. Tim Easterby's horses came good.
