Park Life
Left the house with Alice B. as she is working all day at the shop. Kitchen duties for me, but that's later.
Carried on my wander along Montreal Ave. (Canadian Estate), up The Gledhow Parks, great views of City Centre from the crest of Roxholme Grove, and from there dropped down into Potternewton Park (Chapeltown). Passing the Mansion House and Bowling Greens I met a group of Dog Walkers. The Blip is of Chris, Rotty Leo and his 8 month old pup Mr.Pink (The Wee Donkey); with Sarah and pup's Mum Beatrice. We had a great chat, including my retelling of the day a work colleague (me a fresh-faced 17 year old out of the Convent) approached me about my use of the work "burke", that's how I thought it was spellled, pertaining to a fella named Burke who once made a Grade 1 Tit of himself; to me a gentle admonishment in line with Idiot, Klutz, Fool. He gently informed me that "berk" , you might be way ahead of me here, was a short form of Cockney Rhyming slang "Berkshire Hunt", he said giving the term a more offensive vulgar meaning. I didn't have a clue what the rhyme could be, so unfamiliar with the word was I, despite being fairly au fait with Cockney slang. Chis, in Blip, makes use of the C word liberally. I still cringe at my own innocent use of the B word.
Only covered (6.5k steps) 3 miles but had been out for almost 2 hours.
The sun has disappeared behind cloud, Racing on TV from York, the Knavesmire, The Dante Meeting. Typically my first visit to the track of the year, a chance to meet up with my Bro, and his Racing Pals, up from down South. A grand day out, fresh air, good appetites and a few quid took off the Bookie!
I'm sure ITV's coverage will be adequate.
