Today's the day ...................... for plants for free

You really don't have to spend a load of money to have a garden full of plants - in fact, with a bit of ingenuity, you can do it all for free.

First of all, there's all the plants that just present themselves unfailingly year on year, without you doing anything at all.  Who wouldn't want to enjoy the bluest of blue forget-me-nots, the columbines, the foxgloves, the poppies, pansies, primulas or any of the others that just seed themselves whenever they get the chance?  And yes, they will try to take over the world but it doesn't take long to limit them to the places you want to have them.

Then there are other gardeners, who in my experience, are invariably a very generous lot.  Most are only too happy to give you a cutting of something you fancy - or let you make one - or give you a seed head.  They usually want to share the joy with you.   

But in fact, there's a whole world of free seeds and plants out there, just ready for the growing.  And it's worth giving anything a try - because if you are successful, it will be a source of endless pleasure .....................
