Sunny Swanage
After yesterday's washout it was a relief to see blue skies and sunshine this morning. We had a few lazy hours in Marshall once we'd woken up. For some reason we started talking about our holiday to France a few years ago and I ended up reading the Blips (starting here) What a fabulous holiday it was - Disney, Giverny B&B, Gite near Mont St Michel, Safari tent by the beach. The Little Misses loved reminiscing and we all agreed we can't wait to get back.
Reading the Blips made me realise how many things I'd forgotten. And made me determined to make more effort to carry on Blipping. Not filling in the gaps - I think that ship has sailed!!! - but just getting back to Blipping every day like I used to. For years!
Once we'd had breakfast I took Archie for a walk through the beautiful woods next to the campsite. The best thing about this campsite is the lovely walks in every direction.
Then we packed up and headed to Swanage. Nana and Papa got the bus. They do love making the most of their bus passes. I can't really blame them - an open top bus through amazing scenery. For free!!
We met them on the prom - in our usual shelter! - opposite Harry Ramsdens. Elsie was delighted to see Miss L after so many minutes apart! See extras.
Having bagged our prime seats we got lunch. Fish and chips for Miss E, Mr K and my dad, chips for Miss L, pasty from a local bakery and chips for my mum, and a sausage roll from the bakery and chips for me. Delicious!!!
Then it was time for a lovely walk round the bay and the old harbour and up onto Peveril Point with fabulous views over to Old Harrys Rocks and the Isle of Wight. We've never explored Swanage before and it was gorgeous! We let the dogs off to have a run - far away from the cliffs that an idiot dog might chase a ball off!!
Then it was back down to the seafront for cake, ice creams, tea and cappuccinos in Gee Whites right by the water.
As we ate our barbecue food last night instead of going to the pub we popped into Budgens on the way back to Marshall for emergency meat supplies. Then it was back to the campsite to eat it. Along with the fifty tons of garlic butter the Little Misses made with the wild garlic haul they brought back from the woods on a pre-dinner bike ride!
And then an early night for Line of Duty. Spoiler alert..........
.........
I know some people were disappointed the Fourth Man wasn't someone more dramatic but I think the only truly dramatic people would have been Steve, Kate or Hastings and that would have been awful!!!
