Riverbed and Vines

The weather was strange this morning. It started of with clear cloudless skies and then when I started off on our dog walk, low cloud started to drift over us from the north-east, quite low cloud, almost like mist. It cleared later and we reached a temperature of 26 C. Quite cool compared with Murchison where some of our Blip Friends live. They had a temperature of 31 C. Far too hot for farming eh?
The drought continues to tighten its hold on parts of the North Island. Animal feed is available to be shipped from Canterbury, to the south of us, over by ferry to the affected areas in the North Island. But there are not enough trucks! And it is expensive to ship the feed as the trucks come back empty. It is all very worrying.
Today's blip shows the netting on some fairly young vines across the river from where we were walking this morning. Those vines are growing Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Sauvignon Blanc wine from Marlborough is world famous. As you can see the netting is merely covering the actual grape crop.
They are ripening up very nicely, thank you. I had a nice morning tea from un-netted grapes. I have to be very restrained and not gorge on the grapes otherwise I will most certainly pay the penalty!
By the way, our oldest son James, who lives in Wales, did his first ever blip on Saturday. I can see that blipping will be a great way to keep in touch more often. Better than emails. His Blip name is Jameskiw1.... note the 1 instead of the second i in kiwi. Please drop by and say hello!
