Winter wonderland
Following the heavy rain and force 10 winds last night, this morning we woke up to white stuff everywhere, swirling away in the strong winds.
Jonathan and Sophie were off school anyway due to illness so we have stayed in and tried to stay warm.
I did go out for a 4 mile round trip walk to collect a friend's child from Blancheland College - most of the schools had opened this morning and then had closed by lunch time. It was the worst weather I have ever been out in, strong wind and swirling snow making it hard to see more than 50 yards.
There were a few cars out and about, amazingly some with no headlights on!
Currently around 6-9 inches have fallen, but in patches the drifts are 2 feet tall.
And more is forecast for the next 24 hours.
And to think, on Saturday I was in shirt sleeves washing the cars!
Now we are going to settle in front of the fire and watch a film as a family.
