Talk is cheap

Margie and I are terribly disappointed that Biden has just gifted $735 million in military weaponry to Israel (takes my breath away even to write those words) at the same time that he insists they must come to a ceasefire. “Talk is cheap,” Margie says. "Look at the actions, not the words."

Meanwhile, this happens. 

A ceasefire does seem imminent, but only after unimaginable suffering in Gaza. I have been corresponding with some wise and thoughtful friends, and these are some of the things they say:

“It takes more non-violence to get through the day as a Palestinian than we will ever understand.”

“Peace without justice is surrender.”

“As US citizens we are complicit in funding the Israeli military actions.”

“One secular state with equal rights and opportunity guaranteed to all citizens and residents. It's the only way out of this mess.”
