Youth Climate Strike

"We are skipping our lessons so we can teach you one."

"You'll die of old age. We'll die of climate change."

Fierce beautiful fury of teenagers. May it be successful in making change where our generations have failed.

Over a thousand Portland teens went on strike today to protest fossil fuels and corporate insensitivity to climate catastrophe. They are so beautiful my eyes fill with tears. 

Their 16-year-old MC shouted into the megaphone, "Shout if this is your first protest!" A huge noise went up, and these old knees, having carried me through 60 years of protest, throbbed. The extras: more youth, the crowd, more youth.
