Sellin Pier / Seebrücke Ostseebad Sellin
Cracking bike ride down the coast of Rügen, Germany’s largest island in the Baltic.
I admired the splendid ‘resort architecture‘ of upmarket Binz - until I had to cower from a colossal hailstorm!
A beautiful bike path (all car-free of course) then skirted the placid Schmachter See, crossed the Rasender Roland (“Raging Roland“) steam railway, and climbed to the imposing (or was it kitsch?) Jagdschloss Granitz hunting lodge.
The track through luminous beech forest was breathtaking as a workout out but also for its beauty - and the reward was dropping down the dramatic slope at Sellin to be presented with this picture-perfect pier.
