Clever Robin

I had realised that the robin ( the same one as in my last blip) was flying from my back garden feeder, to the front of the house and across the road, and was taking food over there.  So I gave him a feeder in the front garden so he wouldn't have so far to fly, and where maybe the larger birds wouldn't find it.  They did find it, but the robin found it first.  He very quickly learned to fly across the road every time I came back home and reversed the car into the drive.  By the time I got out of the car he would be waiting in the front garden for his food top-up!  And sometimes I just open the front door and wait, and he appears for more food!

I had also noticed he looked a bit wet on his chest - I think it was from getting warm sitting on the nest - and it seems to have rained every day for at least a week.  Today in the sun he looked totally dry.  And THEN I saw a little fledgling robin in the front garden close by!  I couldn't get a photo of him as he was hiding in the shadows.  But I hope to get one soon.  So he's showing his young where to get the food.  I don't know if there's more than one.  Time will tell.
