Slavonian Grebe
Or if you are American, horned Grebe. Back in 1908 this speices bred for the firsat time in the UK on Loch Ruthven and today it is still their main breeding site in the UK - nobody quite knows why it is so favoured.
It was only a few miles out of Inverness and we had a few hours to fill before things to do in Inverness. A brief trip to the site of the Battle of Culloden. Clava Cairns however were much more impressive and filled the rest of the morning.
In the afternoon, we brushed off the dust of Inverness and headed NW to a campsite opposite the Summer Isles, busy but not ridiculously so.
