Jelly ears

What has a trunk and big wrinkly ears? One of the logs in the woodpile, actually. I'm usually very enthusiastic about edible wild mushrooms, but although these are apparently edible I've never given them a try. Maybe it is because they really do look like ears, and the rubbery texture isn't altogether appealing either.
