All around The Wrekin.
This is an expression widely used in the midlands and is the equivalent to 'all round the houses' used in other parts of the country.
Very early this morning we drove to our caravan in Wales intending to open it up for the season and spend some time there. Although we drove in sunshine it had snowed overnight and it was bitterly cold, down to -2°C in places. We stopped for breakfast on the way and reached the van at about 11:00am only to find that although the caravan had been drained down, etc. for the winter, the central heating and water taps were frozen and unusable.
Luckily the gas engineer was on site and either he or the site owner will fix it tomorrow.
We decided not to spend the night in the freezing cold and came home, passing this hill near the village of Cressage. You could say we had been all around The Wrekin.
