What a Difference a Day Makes!
After our snowy day yesterday, wasn't quite sure what we would wake up to this morning so I did stay in bed a bit longer than usual just to give the day time to make up its mind. When I eventually got up, it was to be greeted by blue sky and almost all the snow had gone.
We decided to go for a walk through the cliff gardens, into Shelley Park and then on to our favourite coffee shop in Boscombe, Little Pickle Deli Cafe, and although it was sunny, the wind was bitter!
On the way, I was saddened to see that lots of daffodils had either been blown over by the wind or flattened by the snow. However, the ones in my collage today were still standing and braving the icy winds along with the little crocuses, but you can still see some of the lingering snow.
We also saw this wonderful Camellia which, despite the snow and extremely cold weather, was looking magnificent.
And then we saw this delightful little violet - struggling to survive against the odds but then it was tucked down against a wall, which obviously gave it shelter.
Reminded me of our struggles in life - we get battered and bruised by what happens to us, but most of us are fortunate to be able to "pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and start all over again".
However, if we see people who are not able to do this, we need to count our blessings, and then get on and help them.
Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status.
