After quite a full on day I rewarded myself with a trip to see the wild beavers in east Devon.
After frequent visits last year I had sufficient knowledge to find them but was unsure if the family were still using the original lodge.
We arrived at 6.30pm and because I was with JD, we had soon walked over a mile. I would rather have taken my time but....
A little crowd on the bank alerted us to a beaver eating in the reeds.
It was the adult female that I saw on many occasions last year, easily recognised by a pink tag in her right ear.
We watched for a while but photo opportunities were few so we wandered back to the lodge.
A couple of younger beavers appeared at times. This one gave the clearest view as he/she climbed the bank in search of some tasty green stuff.
The post seems to indicate where an underground entrance to the lodge is. A new addition from last year.
