100 ABSTRACTS - NUMBER 52 & FLOWER FRIDAY

It’s a very dull morning and in fact, quite chilly, but Mr. HCB is out there working hard, planting, weeding and generally pottering around.

He is really pleased with the lupins in our border and proudly told me that there are at least twenty spikes on the two plants.  We bought these last year when we were passing a cottage in a little village nearby that had a table and shelves outside with plants on them.  I think we paid about £2 each for the plants and just about managed to find the cash.

They looked a bit sorry when we first put them into the border, but they have really come on well and are now looking really good.  I decided to take several shots using my Kaleidacam app and this is SOOC with no fartnarkling whatsoever and I have also put a shot of the plant in its surroundings as an extra. 

As you all know, by doing this 100 Abstracts Challenge, I am trying to raise awareness of the marvellous work that the Mamie Martin Fund does in paying the fees for young women and girls to have a secondary education in North Malawi.  Of course, being Friday, it is also designated Flower Friday, so once again, it is a two-for-one today. 

TELEZA is another girl who was helped with funding from Mamie Martin Fund for her secondary education.  Her parents were unable to pay the whole amount of fees when she was at Elangeni Secondary School, so she received a bursary from the Fund.  Teleza did very well in her Malawi School Certificate of Education in 2017. 

After leaving secondary school, Teleza studied at Lusibiro Computer School at Karonga learning basics in computing.  She very much appreciates all the help given to her by the Mamie Martin Fund throughout her years at secondary school and says she would not be where she is now were it not for that help.
