In The Absence Of A Sea Monster

Today started with an early morning run with my bro'. We were out the door before 7 am and it was time for "legs out". This is what we call wearing shorts when we go for a run. Being of a certain age and having what is colloquially known as "Scottish skin" (i.e skin so blue that it only barely turns white in summer when exposed to the sun!) we headed out early before we could be spotted by the general public.
It was a run of approximately 4 miles out to Allington Lock and back. We had not actually run that far in weeks and I was astonished to find that I found it really rather easy - I think this was helped by the glorious early morning sunshine and a beautifully cool breeze.
Once we got back home it was time for a bacon butty and a couple of strong cups of coffee. A hot bath and a post run snooze later we decided it was time for another micro trip. This time back to Sheerness.
By about 11 am we were strolling along the sea wall looking out across the North Sea. There was not actually that many people there and by the time we reached the end of the promenade it was completely empty (see extra).
My main image was taken walking back in the other direction and is of the body of seaside telescope (50p a go). Unfortunately I didn't have 50p and as much as I squinted out to sea there was a distinct lack of a sea monster. Maybe next time!
