After the rain

I knew, when I watered the garden generously last night, that the weather goddess was probably watching :-)
This morning we had lovely, gentle summer rain: the kind that really soaks in. I can almost see the plants growing in front of me now.
And once it stopped, everything looked fresh and wonderful. Two favourites are flowering together at the moment: the iris (main photo) and - about to burst into flower - its neighour the peony (extra). Neither will last long, but they give it their all while they're in bloom.
