Snow Day 3

The thaw has begun under bright spring sunshine, at least at this end of the island anyway. However, there was still snow to be had in the higher parishes and therefore, snowmen to be made. Much of the island is slowly returning to normality, although the southern half has really suffered, with many cars being buried under thick snow drifts and up to 100 trees either felled or left with dangerously overhanging branches.
The airport finally reopened at 3pm today. The contractors having removed tonnes of snow from the runway. It is now banked up all around the edges of the aprons; a vivid reminder of the biggest snow storm Guernsey has seen in thirty years.
